Big Bear Lodge is open from mid-to-late May until mid-to-late October and again from the end of December until the end of March. See reservation pages for exact dates.

Deposits are required when making a reservation in order to hold the unit. In cases where an arrangement has been made to collect a deposit other than at the time of booking, we will only hold and block the unit during the time requested for no longer than 24 hours. If another party contacts us within 24 hours wanting to rent that unit, we will try contacting the original party before booking the unit with the new party.
1 Night: Full balance due when booking
2 nights: 50% due when booking
3 or more nights: $400 due when booking
Lodge rooms require a 50% deposit for any amount of days reserved.
Balances are due upon arrival. Taxes, pet and additional person fees are charged at the time of booking.
CANCELLATIONS/REFUNDS MAY - OCT
Because we are a small operation cancellations affect us greatly. It is a big challenge to attempt to rent a cabin or lodge room after it has been booked on the reservation calendar. There is considerable time and expense associated with marketing a vacant unit, and a slim window of time to rent and recover lost revenue. We strictly enforce this policy and we appreciate your understanding.

If cancelling your reservation within 2 days of making your reservation your deposit will be refunded (less a $25 fee). If your reservation is cancelled 60 days or more from your arrival date, your deposit will be refunded (less a $50 cancellation fee). If cancelling less than 60 days from your arrival date, no refund is given. If cancelling 14 days or less from your arrival date there is no refund and you will be charged for all nights reserved.
No refunds are granted, and you will be charged for all nights reserved for:
- Early departures
- Cancellations 14 Days or less from your arrival date.
A deposit is required for all new reservations, deposits/payments not refunded can be applied to the balance of a new reservation of equal or greater value within 12 months of the original arrival date.
Final payment is due upon arrival. Guests are responsible for all nights reserved. We do not issue refunds for early departures.
You are responsible for any missing items and damage caused by you, your pets, or your guests.

Rates are based on 2 person occupancy, do not include applicable taxes, and are subject to change without notice.
Additional person: Additional person charge is $25 per person per night.
Children: Children 3 and under stay for free.
Guest room age limit: Lodge rooms are for adults (18 and older) only.
Discounts: All discounts are applied to the end of the reservation period.
There is a dog fee of $20 per night per dog (we allow up to 2 dogs per cabin).
Dogs are allowed to stay in cabins only.
We ask in consideration of other guests that may have pet allergies that dogs be kept off furniture, however the use of a cover is accepted.
Acknowledgment of our pet and cancellation/refund policies are required when making a reservation.
Please leash your dog(s) when outside if other dogs are present.
Pet owners assume all liability and responsibility for dog-to-dog encounters. Guests may be asked to leave if dogs bark excessively or are aggressive.
Dogs are not allowed to be left alone in cabins unless properly crated and quiet. Dogs are not allowed inside the main lodge.
Pet owners are responsible for all damage caused by pets, and are responsible for proper pet waste disposal.
CANCELLATIONS/REFUNDS DEC - MAR
PLEASE NOTE RESERVATIONS MADE FOR WINTER STAYS DECEMBER THROUGH MARCH ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.
However should you need to cancel a winter stay a credit of your deposit will be extended for a period of 12 months to be used for a new reservation of equal or greater value. A new deposit is required with all new reservations but you will be refunded that amount or the deposit can be used towards the new balance of your stay upon check in. Canceling a winter stay 14 days or less before your stay dates also requires the entire balance to be paid. A credit for the full amount will also be extended up to 12 months to be used towards another stay of equal or greater value.
Smoking is NOT allowed in any building on lodge property. Please dispose of cigarettes and cigars properly.
Cleaning of fish is NOT allowed in cabins- a fish cleaning house is available next to the lodge for proper cleaning and disposal.
Quiet after 10:00 PM - please be considerate of other guests and keep noise to a minimum.
Big Bear Lodge does not discriminate - ALL are welcome.
There is free WI-FI in the lodge, but NO CELL PHONE COVERAGE on the Gunflint Trail.
There are NO TV's in the lodge, cabins, or lodge rooms.
Our cabins are housekeeping cabins. All essential items are provided for your convenience including kitchen ware and linens. Guests are expected to take care of accommodations and items by following septic rules, picking up after pets, general cleaning such as washing dishes, and returning any items back to the original location. If items are missing or cabins are left in such a condition that requires repair or extensive cleaning, we reserve the right to charge an additional fee or replacement cost or cleaning based on the condition of the cabin and value of items.
Gift certificates may be purchased at any time by calling, emailing, or purchasing online through the website.
Gift certificates are not gift cards and expire 12 months from the date of purchase.
Gift certificates are non-refundable.
